How To Choose A Perfect Paint Colour For Your Car?

Did you know that the colour of your car has a code the paint code? Every car whether it is a Mercedes or Mitsubishi, an Audi or a local Sedan there is a guided number chart to the exact candy white or tornado red or universal black. So if you have a scratch on your car that you are planning to repaint you must know your car and you must have the car paint code chart handy.

When we buy a car we not only have a preference for the company and model we wish to buy but we also have a colour in mind that the family likes. But although we do a lot of background research on the company and the car model the colour is least investigated. So when you hear about car paint code the first thing that comes to your mind is where to find it on my car. Well although the location varies according to the car model and makes there are only a handful of locations that are typically used for ‘hiding out’ this information from plain sight.

The typical locations of car paint code are

1)driver’s side door jamb

2) under driver’s seat

3) right-hand sun visor

4) radiator

5) firewall or engine compartment

6) glove box

7) rear of middle console

8) under deck lid

9) rear compartment

10) spare tyre well

Depending on the make and model of your car you will find the car paint code etched in either of the above places.

For example, if your car is an Alfa Romeo then look for a 3 number code under the trunk deck. It can also be a combination of letters and numbers and may be also present in some cases on the underside of the bonnet. If it is an Audi then it will typically be a two to four number or number/letter combination usually etched under the trunk deck lid or spare wheel well. For a Bentley, however, it is a bit more complicated. It is either under the front hood, in the door jamb or door hinge or sometimes even under the trunk deck lid. This is usually a combination of letters and numbers of varying length.

So the gist of the story is that car paint codes are a combination of just numbers or letters and numbers together of varying length, located somewhere within the body of the car that varies according to the make and model of the car in question.

Car paint codes are also easily found online through various search engines and websites. A typical search will ask for the year, model and make of your car. A typical search result will say that 2009, Ferrari of model California of colour Grigio Alloy Metallic has the code 226688,750.

The importance of car paint code is that if you have a tiny dent or scratch that you are planning to get repaired and your car painted then landing the exact colour is very helpful. So now you know where to look for the numbers that will lead you to the correct colour.
