2019 BMW 2 Series Coupe: A Performing car with Great Style

BMWs are popular for their good build quality and luxurious cabin. The 2019 BMW 2 Series Coupe is here to redefine the BMW car culture with its amazing performance and ride quality. This entry-level Coupe manages to offer optimum style and dynamics on the scale of rivals like the Ford Mustang GT. The 248-hp four-cylinder engine crushes most of the rivals with its commanding performance. While the M240i comes powered with a 335 hp six-cylinder engine. Both the models offer great sporty handling without compromising on the comfort level.

The 2019 BMW 2 Series price starts at $35,300 and goes up to $$47,800. The 2 Series is offered as either a coupe or convertible under 230i and M240i trims that are mainly differentiated by engine options. The 230i coupe is propelled by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (248 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque). The M240i offers a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder (335 hp, 369 lb-ft). Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that moves power to the rear wheels. A six-speed manual is available at no extra cost, but it is not available with the 230i convertible. An optional All-wheel drive with automatic transmission is available for all models.

The 2 Series Coupe is claimed to be very responsive. The steering effort is pretty light at low speeds and weights up when you drive faster. There’s a feedback lack, but the M steering wheel feels good in the hands. It’s not easy to make the small 2 Series bend on tight corners. In Sport Plus mode, the stiffer suspension settings provide all important information to the driver, and the stability control offers better support in this regard. In Comfort or Eco Pro mode, the softer suspension settings and dialed-back throttle responseensuresmooth running on the 2 Series for daily commuting. The stop-start system is responsive and requires no extra effort from the driver.

The standard features available for the 230i include 17-inch wheels, LED and foglights, selectable drive mode, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, simulated-leather upholstery, a rearview camera, a 6.5-inch infotainment screen with the iDrive control, and BMW’s Connected Drive telematics.

Moving up to the M240i coupe or convertible adds 18-inch wheels, an auto-dimming driver-side and rearview mirror, a sunroof (coupe only), sporty exterior flourishes, a rear spoiler, a sport exhaust, an adaptive suspension, upgraded brakes, and satellite radio.

Majority of the M240i’s extra features are offered as options on the 230i model. One major option package to look is the Premium package, which comes with a navigation system, BMW remote services, Apple CarPlay, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Other value-added features include adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.

The interior design and material quality are close to identical, and as a result, the car surpasses entry-level expectations. The well-placed and controls ease operation and are intuitive enough that you don’t have to move your sight away from the road. The iDrive interface is one of the best options available with the 230i.

Due to the small size of the 2 Series, getting in and out of the front seats is quite easy, even in tight parking spaces. While the rear seats with limited space are fit for smaller passengers. The front seats can be easily occupied by taller passengers, with good hefty headroom and legroom.  The rear seats miss both, and the low seat cushions are meant for children only. Majority of Coupe available in this segment offer such seating arrangement.

The carmaker has truly taken care of the safety features. The standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic braking at city speeds and daytime pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and a drowsy driver warning system. A power-folding fabric top and a mesh wind deflector, are available with the convertible models.
